Three Things to Watch for in 2023

January 5, 2023

We hope you had a restful holiday because we’re raring to go for 2023! Here are a few things you can look forward to in the coming months, including opportunities to get involved and resources to get you ready:

Media Literacy Training: How to Navigate the News (and stuff that looks like news)

Last year, we talked to people across the country about disinformation and free speech. We heard dozens of great ideas, lots of nuance, and one clear request: a media literacy training to help people navigate a rapidly changing online environment. Media literacy goes beyond just using the SIFT Method (though that’s the perfect place to start), and we’re excited to be hosting a practical workshop to help you make sense of the vast amount of information you encounter online. Revamped Civic Genius Podcast

More than 1.8 million people work for the federal government, and that’s not even including military personnel.  This year, we want to help you understand what those people do – and don’t do – all day. Without spoiling anything, we promise major laughs punctuated by actual, useful information. Stay tuned for our first episode later this month.

It’s Your America

Citizen problem-solving is back in 2023, and we’ll be announcing events in two new metro areas any day now! Keep your eyes peeled to learn about events where you live and follow along to learn about all dimensions of a new – and important, and complicated – issue.
